Oh glorious health care legislation, because of you insurance companies can not refuse coverage of preexisting conditions and dependents can stay on their parent’s policies until they’re 26 years old. All these wonderful things accomplished while lowering the cost of the program. Thank the heavens for the oh so generous and divine Democratic party. Just one question, why do you always have to be so generous with my money?
The economy has been falling down around the Obama administration for the last year and all they can think about is how to jam their socialist agenda down the american people’s throats. The Reid, Pelosi, and Obama health care “reform” plan claims to reduce costs when compared to the current system, and the Congressional Budget Office agrees that over the next 10 years it will cost less. However, logic would dictate that extending more health care to more people should cost more…shouldn’t it? If it does cost more, how can the Congressional Budget Office say that it will cost less? Are they as big of liars as the politicians that produced this ridiculous concoction? Short answer, no they are telling the truth. It is technically accurate to say the “reformed” health care system will cost less over the next ten years. However, this is NOT accomplished by REALLY saving money. They dressed it up to look better short term by shifting costs, raising taxes, and postponing the implementation of actual health care benefits.
As you can image and as all Democratic legislation contains, this law has huge tax increases. Even worse, this will not only affect those “evil rich people”. (Sorry middle class, but this is going to hurt us too) The direct taxes imposed on us and small businesses will include, but are not limited to; new taxes on existing health plans, taxing Medicaid managed care plans, increased Medicare payroll taxes, and elimination of itemized medical expense deductions. In addition to the direct increases in taxation, the Federal Government is also forcing greater costs onto the state governments. Of course the states will have no choice, but to increase state revenue through local taxation to cover Medicaid costs. The new law accomplishes this magic trick through mandatory expansion of state Medicaid programs. My local state estimates that this will increase the enrollment in Medicaid by 60% by 2019 and will cost the state more than $613,000,000 from 2014 to 2019. Considering the states can not print their own money like the federal government can, the only option for the states is to pass the cost onto the public. Even though on the surface the states would be running the programs, the federal goverment would really be running the program through mandates on the states. Thus we have an extrodintarily expensive federal health care program that technicaly doesn’t cost the federal government anything. Its all a shell game. Can anyone say Enron?
In addition to the smoke and mirrors game the new health care law is playing, they have another trick up their sleeves. All the taxes, fees, and fines are designed to take affect immediately, but the benefits will not actually kick in until 2014. So in theory, we are paying for those benefits for nearly twice as long as we will be receiving any benefits. Then when you limit your view to only the next 10 years, it creates the elution that the program costs less than it actually does in the “really people” world. All this trickery is only scratching the surface of the Health Care “Reform ” plan. I have not even mentioned the back room deals and legal bribery that has taken place to get this program through the House and Senat. It will be months before the health care law’s “pork” can be revealed. Who knows what special interset group “funding” is hidden in it’s pages.
Most importantly, this plan has already been tried by the state of Massachusetts and the cost of healthcare there has exploded. If you buy the same policy in Massachusetts and in Texas, the Massachusetts plan will cost you 40% more than the Texas plan. Yet, the progressives insist that this is going to be different… for some reason.
Now Reid, Pelosi, Obama, and the other Democrat pons are congratulating themselves on their “historic” accomplishment that will not soon be forgotten. One thing they are right about is that it will NOT be soon forgotten. Most of the American people are not impressed by their parlor tricks. We see their left hand going for our wallets while making a government power grab with their right. Many states have filed or are filing lawsuits against the new health care law. The only hope we have now is that the Constitution will be upheld and those responsible for this will be swept from power in the next election. This will be my prayer and I assume the prayer of many others as well. Next time you run into the doctor’s office, see if he can fix your sore throat after health care has been shoved down it.
